Body wraps are treatments where a product is applied to the body and then covered or wrapped up. Wraps serve various purposes, including remineralization, circulation enhancement, pain relief, hydration, stimulation, detoxification, or relaxation promotion. The effects and results depend on the product used. Aloe, gels, lotions, oils, seaweed, herbs, clay, or mud products can all be used for wraps. Linens or plastic can wrap clients to enhance product penetration. Blankets or sheets serve as the cocoon of the “wraps.” In our salon, we combine body wraps with infrared sauna sessions. The wrap is secured in place while the client relaxes for anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. The treatment works by trapping heat, allowing the ingredients to penetrate deeply into the skin.
Inch-loss wraps, another type of wrap, are designed to flush toxins out of the body and promote inch loss. They have a diuretic effect and are controversial in their effectiveness. If done properly, detoxifying the body may aid in weight reduction.
Before body wrapping, we perform a dry brush peeling, which improves skin texture by gently exfoliating and removing dead skin cells. This revitalizes dull skin and encourages new skin cells to surface. It also prepares the skin for better product penetration.
Then, we apply a body mask (mud) to the whole body. Afterward, we wrap the client in plastic and cover them with a blanket or sheet. Finally, we cover our client with an infrared blanket. After the procedure, the client can take a warm shower and finish with moisturizing or nourishing creams. We also recommend combining this procedure with other body treatments, such as body massage or ENDOSPHERES, for greater effect. If the client wishes, an additional service such as a face mask can be used during the procedure.
Body masks remineralize and detoxify the body primarily using clay, mud, or seaweed mixtures. Certain body masks are used to treat cellulite. Clients are usually wrapped up after the mask application, making masks similar to wraps. The ingredients and procedure used in the treatment determine whether it’s called a mask or a wrap. We offer body wrap or body mask options without an infrared blanket to our clients.
These include cleansing your body of toxins via sweat, muscle recovery (particularly post exercise), boosting your cardiovascular health, and even easing chronic pain.
Infrared sauna blankets can promote detoxification by stimulating the body’s natural sweating process. Unlike traditional saunas, which rely on high heat and humidity to induce sweating, infrared sauna blankets use gentle heat that penetrates deeply into the skin and tissues.
We recommend that you shower after an infrared sauna. Because you sweat during your session and toxins are released, having a shower after your sauna will help cleanse the skin and close pores.
Similar to a regular sauna, sauna blankets help detoxify the body of unwanted chemicals and break up fatty tissue deposits. On the outside, you may notice reduced cellulite and weight loss.
The high heat experienced in saunas will cause the blood vessels to dilate and increase blood flow. This can increase the amount of blood that is filtered through the liver which is then taken to the kidneys to be removed from the body via urine.
Body wrap treatments involve heat application and certain ingredients that may pose risks during pregnancy, including potential overheating and absorption of substances that could affect fetal development.
The heat and compression involved in body wrap treatments can exacerbate cardiovascular conditions, leading to increased strain on the heart and potential complications for individuals with cardiac insufficiency or hypertension.
Body wrap treatments typically involve pressure and manipulation of the body, which can aggravate acute injuries, delay healing, or cause further damage to injured tissues.
Individuals with diabetes may have compromised circulation and sensation in their extremities, making them more susceptible to injury or burns from the heat applied during body wrap treatments.
During menstruation, some individuals may experience increased sensitivity and discomfort, and the heat and pressure from body wraps may exacerbate these symptoms.
Body wrap ingredients can vary, and individuals with known allergies to components commonly used in wraps should avoid these treatments to prevent allergic reactions.
Cancer patients may be undergoing treatments that weaken the immune system or affect skin integrity, making them more susceptible to adverse effects from body wraps. Additionally, certain ingredients or heat levels could interfere with cancer treatments or exacerbate symptoms.
Individuals recovering from surgery may have compromised healing processes and increased sensitivity, making body wrap treatments potentially risky and interfering with the surgical site’s recovery.
The absorption of substances through the skin during body wrap treatments may pose risks to breastfeeding infants, as these substances could potentially transfer to breast milk.
Body wraps involve close contact with the skin, increasing the risk of spreading fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot or ringworm, to unaffected areas.
Individuals with itchy or irritated skin conditions may find body wrap treatments uncomfortable or exacerbate their symptoms, leading to increased discomfort.
Certain medications may interact with body wrap ingredients or increase sensitivity to heat, necessitating caution or avoidance of these treatments.
Individuals with reduced sensation or numbness, such as those with neuropathy, may not be able to perceive discomfort or burns caused by the heat during body wrap treatments, increasing the risk of injury.
Active outbreaks of herpes simplex virus (HSV) can be exacerbated by the heat and friction of body wrap treatments, leading to increased discomfort and potentially spreading the infection to other areas of the body.
DNA Beauty Studio’s Body Wrap Treatment is a beneficial service that offers all of these benefits:
A body wrap can help to remove toxins, such as heavy metals and chemicals, from the body. This is due to the sweating that occurs during the treatment.
The wrapped materials help to compress the skin, which can improve circulation. This can benefit those suffering from conditions such as cellulite or muscle pain.
Compression of the wrapped materials can help improve cellulite’s appearance and promote overall skin health by improving circulation and increasing collagen production.
A body wrap’s relaxing nature can help relieve stress and tension. This can be beneficial for both the mind and the body.
